UMAP Pilot Results<\/h1><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

Community College students enthusiastically endorse UMAP pre-med seminar<\/h2><\/div>

The Health Professional Student Association, in collaboration with the Oklahoma University-Tulsa University School of Community Medicine<\/a> and Tulsa Community College<\/a>, completed a pilot of the Undergraduate Medical Accelerator Program (UMAP)<\/a> on April 23, 2022. Held both in-person and virtually, the event was attended by 12 community college students.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pre- and post-program surveys were completed by nine of the 12 attendees (75%). While the number of respondents is too low for statistical analysis, the results of the program were encouraging.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event attracted a diverse group of students.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Attendees responded that they found the program useful based on a 5-point Likert scale (1 – Strongly Disagree, 2 – Disagree, 3 – Neither Agree or Disagree, 4 – Agree, 5 – Strongly Agree), as can be seen in the below results of the survey:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The qualitative results of the survey were also positive.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEven if you’re pretty certain about how\/what you need to do before applying to school, the <\/span>tracking and finding resources provided in the workbook is extremely valuable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt helped me to understand what the process to medical school is going to look like and how I <\/span>can get there with where I already am.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
